Mark Cornish – Owner/Director & Senior Physiotherapist. MISCP
In 2019, Clinic Director and Senior Physiotherapist Mark returned to MDC Physiotherapy in a clinical capacity having previously worked in elite professional football in the UK since 2016. During his time in professional football Mark worked as the Head Physiotherapist at Crewe Alexandra FC and enjoyed successful spells as Head of Academy Physiotherapy at Swansea City FC and as the Head Academy Physiotherapist with Accrington Stanley FC. Prior to moving to the UK, Mark experienced successful spells as the Head Physiotherapist with the Laois Senior Football Team allowing him gain vast experience and knowledge working with sporting environments, assessing, diagnosing and treating complex sports injuries. Mark currently works providing physiotherapy services with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
To add to his experience and expertise, Mark successfully completed a MSc in Sports & Exercise Medicine at University College Cork between 2015 – 2017.
Mark, a Kildare native, graduated from the University of Bradford, England with a BSC Hons Degree in Physiotherapy in 2011 achieving First Class honours and immediately set about establishing a local client base through work with sports teams, voluntary work with the Muiriosa Foundation, providing care for patients with intellectual disabilities and through private clients.
In April 2012, Mark’s ambition saw the opening MDC Physiotherapy Clinic in the centre of Kildare Town and today boasts an extensive client base ranging from professional athletes and intercounty footballers through to local clients leading more sedentary lifestyles.
Mark also holds a Higher National Diploma in Leisure Management and is an American Council of Exercise (A.C.E) accredited personal trainer, allowing Mark to produce detailed personalised rehabilitation programmes for clients of all levels.
As a keen sportsman Mark has had the privilege of being part of the Kildare Junior Football panel in 2012 while also playing a key role in Monasterevan GFC’s Kildare & Leinster Intermediate Championship success in the same year.
